Senator Webb of Virginia has introduced a bill named the Cold War Service Medals Act of 2009.
Introduced on November 5, the bill would allow the medal to be issued to all honorably discharged veterans who served nore than two years or were deployed for 30 day or more from the time period spanning September 2, 1945 to December 26, 1991.  Families could receive the medal if the Cold War veteran has died.


Health: 
Yale University is looking into how the VA is implementing two treatment programs for PTSD; cognitive therapy, and prolong exposure therapy.  A grant will be used from the National Institute of Health to assess 250 providers in residential programs to see if these treatments have been properly implemented.


News: 
After a yearlong environmental assessment of several home ports, the Navy's conventional riverine forces will stay in Virginia.  Nine bases were examined in the assessment: Yorktown, Little Creek; New London, CN.; Kings Bay, GA.; Mayport, FL.; Gulfport, MS.; San Diego and Ventura Cty., CA.; and Kitsap, WA.


Former Navy astronaut, Capt. Lisa Nowak pleaded guilty to third degree felony burglary and misdemeanor battery.  Nowak confronted her romantic rival Colleen Shipman, in the parking lot of Orlando International Airport in February 2007 after driving from Huston.  Shipman had been dating Nowak's love interest, former space shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein.
