Defense Secretary Gates states that the US is committed to win the war in Afghanistan, despite plans to "bug out" in 2011; though this is the start date for the pull out which will most likely take years.


Admiral Mullen gave Marines, at Camp Lejeune, NC, a pep talk; saying they have a two year window to turn around the war situation in Afghanistan.  The Admiral stated that we need to win this conflict to keep nuclear weapons out of terrorist hands.


Medal of Honor winner and WWII veteran, Col. Van T. Barfoot, USA Ret., is fighting to keep his flag pole at his Richmond. Va. home, his homeowners assoc. states it violates their codes.  Col. Barfoot also served in Korea and Vietnam before retiring in 1974.

FREE ALASKA FISHING
Charter boat captains from Homer, Wittier, and Valdez, Alaska are joining forces with the Alaska Halibut Veteran Fishing Tournament next year.  So far 40 charter boats are pledged for more than 500 Veterans from the Iraq, Afghanistan and Desert Storm Wars for a free day on the water.
